Couples usually start their mutual journey with high hopes and optimism. However, relationships can also be challenging, affecting both the individual and couple’s sense of connection and well-being. These challenges can affect our ability to communicate with our partner about our needs, leaving us feeling lonely, angry, overwhelmed, anxious and conflicted. If those feelings become entrenched, they can lead to both partners feeling they are ‘growing apart’ rather than ‘growing together’.
In my work with my clients, we look at ways where both the relationship and the two individuals can grow, have more control, and emerge strengthened by the experience. I help couples gain new insights to better understand their relationships and to create new, more fulfilling and more empathic ways of relating.
My aim is to help couples foster awareness and understanding of themselves and each other, and gain insight into the nature of their difficulties. Couples therapy provides an opportunity to think about the dynamics of the relationship and get better attuned to your own emotions, as well as your partner’s.
